West Hill & Aylesbeare
Branch & Club

The “Legion” as many locals refer to it is the home of both the West Hill Branch of the Royal British Legion and to the Royal British Legion West Hill Club.

The RBL Clubhouse is leased from the Branch by the Club and a wide range of activities and facilities are available to members, guests, visitors and local community groups alike. All are welcome to visit us, use the facilities, and enjoy the warm friendly atmosphere.

The Legion’s facilities include a large lounge and Bar equipped with a 107 inch projector screen,

47 inch LCD TV, Skittle Alley, Pool table, and Dart board.

Adjoining the lounge are a Snooker Room with a full-size snooker table and a fully equipped kitchen.

A Family Affair

Zara, who still lives at home with her mother Brooke, works as an assistant to demanding movie star Chris. She must constantly deal with his various whims, and often she is the one who handles things when he breaks up with yet another girlfriend. However, his promises to help her become a producer remain unfulfilled; finally, this drives Zara to quit. In an attempt to get her back, Chris comes to her house where he meets her mother. He becomes fascinated by Brooke, and one thing leads to another, suddenly presenting Zara with new challenges.

Adapted for the screen from Bea Roberts’ multi-award-winning stage play, And Then Come the Nightjars tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a Devon farmer and the vet who is assigned to cull his precious herd.

One night in Miami

Set on the night of February 25, 1964, “One Night in Miami” follows a young, brash Cassius Clay as he emerges from the Miami Beach Convention Center the new Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World. Against all odds, he defeated Sonny Liston and shocked the sports world. While crowds of people swarm Miami Beach to celebrate the match, Clay – unable to stay on the island because of Jim Crow-era segregation laws – spends the evening at the Hampton House Motel in Miami’s African American Overtown neighborhood celebrating with three of his closest friends: Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, and Jim Brown. During this historic evening, these icons, who each were the very representation of the Pre-Black Power Movement and felt the social pressure their cross-over celebrity brought, shared their thoughts with each other about their responsibilities as influencers, standing up, defending their rights and moving the country forward to equality and empowerment for all black people. The next morning, the four men emerge determined to define a new world for themselves and their community.

The room can be laid out in many different ways for various occasions and we will ensure that you are able to access the room if you want to dress the room and tables.
 
We can accommodate around 100 people for a party or up to 66 people for a sit-down meal.  If you want to use the room for a corporate event then again, it can be set up to suit your individual needs.
 
Whatever the occasion from Birthdays – Surprise Parties – Engagements – Weddings – Anniversaries – or After Funeral Parties we will do our best to accommodate.
